Michael Ferguson moves to Deputy Minister of Finance New Brunswick Premier David Alward has appointed Kim MacPherson to replace Michael Ferguson as Auditor General of New Brunswick.Ms. MacPherson, who was the provincial comptroller, has been with the New Brunswick government for 25 years. A Chartered Accountant, she becomes the province's first female Auditor General. Mr. Ferguson, who has served as Auditor General of New Brunswick since 2005, has been named Deputy Minister of Finance. The appointments were among several announced by the New Brunswick government on November 15. The Premier said, "These changes are being made to bring new leadership and a creative approach to the upper ranks of our public service at a time when we are asking departments to examine every service and program to reduce unnecessary spending." CCAF would like to thank Mr. Ferguson who has played an active role in the technical support and mentoring component of CCAF’s International Program. In April 2008, he and CCAF Executive Director Michael Eastman participated in a training session in Tanzania for the country's three parliamentary oversight committees. Mr. Ferguson spoke to workshop participants and representatives from the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, the European Union, and others. CCAF wishes both Ms. MacPherson and Mr. Ferguson well as they take on their new assignments. |
