Tuesday, 23 August 2011 01:00

Charles-Antoine St-Jean, FCA, Interim Chair of the Board of Governors of CCAF-FCVI, is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Paul Lohnes, CA as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Foundation, effective August 8, 2011.

Mr. Lohnes has broad experience in the auditing profession, including standard setting, quality assurance, oversight, governance, and performing audit engagements. He was a partner with KPMG Canada, including serving as international professional practice partner at the firm's international headquarters in Amsterdam from 1993 to 1996. Mr. Lohnes then served as Director of Auditing and Assurance Standards for the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants, and as Vice President and member of the executive team for the Canadian Public Accountability Board from its start of operations in 2004. He is fluently bilingual.

"We believe that Mr. Lohnes possesses the expertise and experience required to lead CCAF and implement its new strategic plan, which was approved by the Board this June," said Mr. St-Jean. "We are glad to have him at the helm as the Foundation pursues its mission to promote effective public sector performance audit and oversight of government operations in Canada and abroad."

"I look forward to working with legislative auditors, public accounts committees, the Board and other Canadian and international stakeholders as we position and equip CCAF to assist governments and parliaments to continuously raise the bar for performance audit and oversight," said Mr. Lohnes. "Together we will work to meet current challenges and seize opportunities in the years ahead."

Mr. Lohnes also reflected on having met and worked with former CCAF Chair Ronald C. Thompson. "I appreciate the opportunity I did have, before his untimely death, to work with Ron and to learn of his passion for and belief in the Foundation's new strategic directions, which I share. I will work diligently with our team to achieve them."

Mr. St-Jean and Mr. Lohnes express appreciation and best wishes to Michael Eastman, the Foundation's Executive Director, as he leaves CCAF to pursue other challenges.
